John Guzzi

John Guzzi

My name is John Guzzi, and I love Aviation, Military, and Wildlife Photography.  I have always loved planes since I can remember. I live in Johnstown, Colorado. I consider myself an advanced amateur photographer.  I started when I was in the Navy, taking pictures of Naval Aircraft with a borrowed Mamiya Sekor 35mm camera. All of my training is from great photographers mentoring me, trial and error, and YouTube videos.  I’ve moved from film to digital, from Mirrored to Mirrorless cameras, with Canon being my brand of choice. My current favorite is the Canon R5 MKII. My favorite lens for airshows is my Canon 100-500mm and my Canon 70-200mm 2.8 lens.

I use Adobe Lightroom for most of my processing with several plug-ins from Topaz and Skylum. I use this group because it gives me a wide range of options to be creative. I shoot in RAW and usually save the processed files as a JPEG.

I’m in a group called Colorado Aviation Photography. A couple of my friends told me about ISAP, and I thought it would be good for my development to join and learn from a larger group of knowledgeable photographers. I am also a staff photographer for Veterans Life Magazine.

I enjoy sharing knowledge with other photographers who are just starting. One tip I always give is how to master prop blur. If you can get that down, your pictures will go to the next level.
