John Slemp

John Slemp is a professional aviation photographer based in Atlanta, Georgia.

With a career spanning two decades, John’s commercial work concentrates on aviation photography, including images for editorial, corporate, and advertising clients.  He has a particular passion for photographing aircraft in a fine art style, and has been recognized for his work, being selected for inclusion in the Best of ASMP in 2008, and again in 2015.  Of over 400 professional portfolios submitted for consideration, his aviation photography work was one of only twenty so honored for this prestigious industry award. His work has also been featured in “Addy” winning advertising campaigns.

Clients include: The Lindbergh Foundation, Phillips 66 Aviation Fuels, Avfuel, Epps Aviation, General Aviation News, Goodyear Aviation Tires, Georgia Jet, Texas Monthly, The Wall Street Journal, Turkel Advertising, the Fulton County Arts Council, Smithsonian Air & Space magazine, Vintage Aviation magazine, AOPA Pilot magazine and Women in Aviation International.

Background

After a 10+ year stint as an Army officer, John’s professional photography career started at the Portfolio Center in Atlanta. Afterwards, he assisted a wide variety of well-known photographers, in order to gain practical experience in the art and business of commercial photography. Established in the Atlanta area since 1992, he enjoys creating location and studio images for commercial clients worldwide. John is also a former member of the ASMP National Board, and a current member of EAAAOPA, and the International Society for Aviation Photography.
