Tom has had an interest in aviation and photography from an early age but chose aviation as a career.
After graduating from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1977, Tom went to work for the flight
department of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. In 1986 he was hired at Piedmont Airlines and retired from American Airlines in 2021.
Tom is a Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument and holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with type ratings in the Rockwell Sabreliner, Gulfstream G-III, McDonnell Douglas DC-9, Boeing B-737, 757, 767, Airbus A-319/320/321 and Airbus A-330.
Tom is a 2026 recipient of the FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award.
